When the top 1%, 5% or whatever MAKE 80-90% of the income--of course they will pay a higher proportion of the total tax bill. There's some smart Latin phrase for it--but if that bracket is making the bulk of the income they should pay the most, and would pay the most. And the oft-repeated Faux News talking points of how 47% of US citizens pay "no taxes" is bull. State, local, sales--all of those are omitted. So just because people don't make enough to pay federal income tax does not mean they pay no taxes.
I'm yakking all over myself now, but damn--it is not me vs. you--or even me& you vs. welfare mother with 3 kids. We have a 1400:1 ratio of CEO vs average worker pay in companies that has increased exponentially since the 50's & 60's when our economy was the bomb. And by the way--the upper tax rate was 90% o0r so--it's now 38%.

Great economy we got going on, huh?
