As I was nursing my Mudhoney hangover last night, watching the fuzzy blood red sun setting in the West, I could not help but feel for the many lives that are being disrupted in a very bad way.
Many families do not have homes or possessions anymore. Family pets gone, tended fruit trees up in smoke, our much needed vegetation gone.
It was raining ash like a snowstorm last night. Got up today and walked in the back yard and I felt like Pig Pen in the Charlie Brown cartoon. Everywhere I walked a plume of dust got kicked up. Wife got a black ash particle in her eye. This morning the sun is projecting a orange glow everywhere. Freaky.
Usually in these big fires we get small ash particles. This one had big snow flake sized ash. And this is the first time large, black inch long particles were falling.
Yesterday morning we were surrounded. Fires to the North, East and South/West. Couldn't leave town.. the freeways were closed near the fires.
I'm far away from most fires (except the small fire to the S/W). Zilla is much closer to the big fires. I'm sure he has a real shit storm. Not too good for the lungs either!
This shit happens regularly, but it's not easy to live with.
Last month my friend's 'castle' burned down. Here is a news clip of it:

He lost 10 vintage 60's cars and a jeep collection. Bummer, man!
I'll be going down to the ocean, to our 'secret cove' to find some clean air and have some cool liquid refreshments.
Kudos the the brave firemen who put their lives on the line to protect peoples lives and property! Balls, man!
