Central Park is a must...spend a day there
Washington Square is another good one....smaller but also fun. Then walk up to 8th street and over to St Marks Place....cool shops

You don't need to spend a whole day in central park, and you probably won't want to as it'll be a bit chilly. But yeh, find strawberry fields, also
there's an open point with a great view of midtown, just walk around the south side of the park and you'll come to it, I won't post my picture as
it might spoil it for you!
Also go up the empire state, the views are spectacular, if it's a nice day that is, but they tell you at the bottom what the forecast is like up there. Also go to Battery Park, Castle Clinton, then take a walk along the embankment to Pier 17, where you can go SHOPPING. If you feel like it and it's not too windy, have a walk along the Brooklyn Bridge, and you'll end up in Brooklyn Heights which is a nice area. Also you'll definitely pass through Times Square at some point or another so I wouldn't go especially out of your way to go there. Those are the must-sees in my opinion, but I'm lending you my rough guide anyway so you'll have plenty to do, it has listings for bookshops and record stores too. I can't remember which area the sort of Camden Markety but is, but you'll see it if you go there, I remember it being near a huge Virgin Megastore (not the one in Times Sqare, although they might be Zavvi now anyway). |

'Politics' is made up of two words, 'poli,' which is Greek for 'many,' and 'tics,' which are blood-sucking insects. - Gore Vidal |

I always like to visit the planetarium when I visit NYC. They show an awesome movie about the origins of the universe on the roof of the dome and it looks like yer in space with rumbling and sound effects and all that. Good presentation....chokes me up every time. Or you could take a tour of Harlem on a double decker bus. Maybe you'd feel at home...not with the natives but with the bus. I mean native New York Harlemites not natives like in Zimbabwe before some liberal jackass jumps on meine sack. |

Well Times Square has been 'sanitized' over the years...it is no longer seedy section it used to be. I've gone there about 3-5 times a year for
about the last dozen years and the last time someone tried to sell me drugs on the street had to be over 6 years ago...and most of the porn shops/strip
clubs/movie houses are gone!!! It has become Disney-ish...a very disturbing development.
The Met is good. Also if you are into historical kinda stuff The USS Intrepid museum is interesting. It just reopened after some long overdue maintenance was done to the ship. Debauch...Debase...Defile. |
