Y'know, there was a time when I never thought we could pull this off. I never thought people would be into hearing some of this stuff live. (for all kinds of reasons, one of which was that some of it wasn't "rock enough") But I was wrong and I'm happy to say it! I got to sing (and the band got to play) in different styles...from heavy blues and rock to downright crooning psych and 60's garage all in the same show! And nobody screamed "make up your fucking mind!" Nobody "lost the plot". It proves to me once again that Magnet fans are a different breed than most. Thinking with your hearts as well as your minds. I certainly don't know you all by name but believe me when I say I love you all. I can think of a no more immediate, life affirming experience than to be with you for a few hours and sing songs with you. By strict definition it's "Fucking Awesome". Yeah, yeah, I know I sound sappy but I had to tell you how I feel. It's the least I can do for you after all the happiness you've brought me. Phil, Bob, Garrett, Jim and I all thank you. I'll leave it at this: YOU. FUCKING. ROCK!

I caught the Malmo & Copenhagen shows not knowing if I'd ever get the chance to see one of my favorite rock/psych records performed in such a manner again. Even being such a huge fan of the album, the concept of playing Dopes in its entirety seemed like such a stretch... Copenhagen was so off the hook that the night left me wired enough to take in the Winterthur show. No regrets. The power of rock - well played! I was the guy in the dark sweatshirt that couldn´t clap his hands;) I recently had an operation on my right arm, so all I could do was shake my left fist and scream! If you guys come my way in the future I WILL BE THERE!!!! The show was AWESOME!!!!!

Posts: 65 (12/14/11 5:14 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Dave, watching the multitude of vids on youtube has been great for the US fans, and there are a few in particular that are so great (check out the Blow Em Off vid from the Paris show you guys did). The band sounds in great form and it's awesome hearing something like Dead Christmas live. I will be at the NJ show along with many others who are travelling from other areas to see you and we're all going to be psyched to catch this live. To you and the band: enjoy your xmas holidays and your families. We will see you in mid-January and LET US HAVE IT at those two shows. And P.S., if you were going to sneak in a few Mastermind tunes, like Hallucination Bomb and Bored With Sorcery, we wouldn't be disappointed.... just sayin'... P.P.S. The five of you sound amazing together - it's really glued in and Garrett is a great addition!

It was a rediscovering journey for me, I was wondering how songs I had never thought I could hear live would sound... Ego the living planet was not only not monotonous at all, but the ultimate headbanging trance experience....and Masterburner live had this quality...that doesn't have on the record. To me it sounded like the perfect soundtrack for an outterspace spaghetti western cult movie (ha-ha, that was my trip) I headbanged, sang out loud, danced to Dead xmas, got trascendental to Blow'em off... and the circle was complete. Heartly thanx! P.S. I vote for Superjudge next

You were really down-to-earth, easy to talk with and I appreciated it very much. On the way back we could not believe how lucky we had been, and I'm still in some sort of afterbuzz.. I know you invited us to the next gig, we tried really hard to get some tickets for Cologne as well, but everything was sold out already Next tour we will definitely be there as well for the Dutch and some of the German shows. Regarding the show itself, it was pure awesomeness wrapped in strings, drums and vocal cords. I never thought I would ever be able to hear some of these songs live because I'd be too young, so the entire experience was like a dream come true (goes to show that no matter what age, MM fans will dig MM songs). Up front I was especially excited to hear Blow 'em Off and All Friends and Kingdom Come in a live setting and boy, was it worth it. Like others have said, Masterburner was an amazing surprise live and you pulled off Ego like I didn't think possible. There wasn't one bad rendition in the entire set, I mentioned these songs because they are the most surprising of the album. Ooh, and I dug the new King of Mars intro! Hopefully, next up, Spine of God! You bet I'll be there!

And so what if some of it isn't 'rock enough' for some people (I don't agree with that at all), it blew my mind! I went to the shows in Eindhoven and Osnabruck and when it was over all I could think: what a shame I can't go see it a third time (That's prob. why I looked 'familiar' to you, I'm there every chance I get!!!) Nothing is more rock than Monster Magnet!

MASTERMIND.. you are so fuckin' right..this lil' Wintertour here in Europe was really a huge fun-festival.. well I just attended to the final show in Cologne but it was really a great experience that let me remember my best youth-years 10 years ago when I first discovered Rock'n Roll and MM at the age of 13.. Nowdays I'm actually a little more into Metal but the bottom of my heart will always belong to Rock-Pioneers like Monster Magnet!!!! And I have to say, that after all the time you guys are already in this buisness YOU STILL KICK ASSES AT LIVE SHOWS!!!! REALLY A FINE PERFORMANCE IN COLOGNE!!! thanks a lot for that night.. The crowd was also very enthusiastic.. the whole audience just felt like one fucking hot creature or body if you wanna put it that way... we really did some remarkable dance- and head-banging action speacially in the first two rows directly infront of Dave.. =) I remember for example these two englishspeaking girlies infront of me..one blonde the other one with dark curls..they even beat me in headbanging!!! .. great job ;=) if you are there ladies...in this forum.. I got a question for you... did you catch by the way the setlist of this night? Well or generally..could anybody paste the Cologne-Setlist in this forum here? Peace, brothers and sisters!!!

I'm 100-percent sure that they also played "Unbroken (Hotel Baby)" towards the end in Cologne!!!! And I don't know if I was already too "high" when they played the encore-part =) .. but didn't they perform also another ballade?.... "Baby Götterdämmerung" maybe? ... well I don't remember well but I'm really sure in the case of UNBROKEN... so... who can confirm my thoughts? I guess the two "crazy chicks" I was talkin' about earlier could.. damn.. why aren't they members of the forum as well.. cheers..
