I was upfront but there were people behind me and it was hard to take a steady photo plus, I was more interested in experiencing the show, than taking photos! I had an urge to build a cage around the sun, I couldn't find a way to say no. I took a check on all the meters in my room, I kicked the dog and said let's go. But... as a musician, when I see live bands I tend catch a little more than most... and I realized something Monster Magnet is probably the tightest, and well-rehearsed band on the planet. Dave is a god-like front man, and sounded awesome! Bob Pantella straight freaked me out with his live timing! Ya know anyone can get it a great take in the studio, but LIVE is the real test, and I saw them in 2011, I saw Bob in Charlotte with the Atomic Botchwax, and then again this year! The guy as a drummer absolutely blows me AWAY! Garret & Phil both were right-on and nailed the set perfectly! Those two are one hell of a pair of guitarist. Jim is the only bass player on the planet who can nail a set that well and be all over the stage at the same time. The current MM line-up is phenominal I had an urge to build a cage around the sun, I couldn't find a way to say no. I took a check on all the meters in my room, I kicked the dog and said let's go.
